The World Diamond Trade

Every few years I end up coming across the mention of the Diamond trade. Like this article from The Atlantic in 1982.

It saddens me how people have been manipulated into believing that what is essentially an easily obtainable mineral, and easily synthesized semi-precious stone is so valuable. Just think of the wasted wealth involved in them, and then factor in the problem of "Blood Diamonds".

Even twenty years after this article was printed, people still believe the myth.
